The great "Stop that!" failed hard. What do?

I'll try to be brief.

This girl messaged me on a dating site. We message back and forth for almost two weeks, I ask for and get her number.

We text back and forth for an hour, made plans for a date next week, then I say I had to run errands so I'd get back to her.

A day later I text "Hi Sam" her reply is."car shopping" (she'd told me prior she was gonna do that today). I reply, "okay text me when you're done and tell me how it goes!"

About 6 hours later I text her with "stop that!" "stop what?" She says. "Thinking about me and smiling. See, you're doing it now!"

No reply. At all. That was 3 hours ago.

1. What do I do now? My gut tells me not to text again unless she does first. We have a date lined up in 6 days. Should I wait til the date gets close to recontact and confirm?

2. Did I mess up by putting the ball in her court ("text me later tell me how it goes") then reinitiate contact 6 hours later before she does? Again, gut says yes.

In retrospect, when she gave me such a short answer ("car shopping") that should've been my cue. I believe I should have left it at that, and not even acknowledged that text and waited for her to contact me again.

Still haven't heard backl from her, so....blah.

In this situation I would not text her back for a day, and when you do text her back, pretend as if it never happened by being funny. "Hey my car queen, did you settle on a vehicle? I'm looking forward to seeing your yellow pinto. "
To answer your question, YES you did mess up by putting the ball in her court by telling HER to text YOU. Her text you? In that situation when she said she was car shopping I'd prob just wait it out. By waiting it out and not texting back, it shows that you too are not available and thus must be occupying your time with something important enough to not text her.

I learned that the hard way too. So I never say "Text me later" anymore.

seems like in her mind ur being needy, just give her a little space to cool it off then text her back. and re-star up a convo.

Yeah I agree Buzz. I found that when I mess up, just add some TIME. A little bit of time to let her forget, then text her with some cocky funny.

I read your post, and I have ran into the same issue my self.
I didn't use the exact same line, but same out come.
All the advise above is great, wish I knew it at the time.
Anyways this is how I remedied the situation.

I just waited a day and a half, (like the advice already given)
Then used this line.

"*hey just cured aids and balanced the deficit, anything I can do for you during my lunch break? :P"

Worked for me, maybe you can use it. I find that anything "cocky funny" tends to get positive feedback. Just make sure to use your smilies, yes it's a little feminine but it will help negate any possible misinterpretations.

Women meet A LOT of men online. Who knows what kind of men some of them meet.

Women will feel a far stronger connection when meeting, and talking to you in person.


You already had a date set up! Wait to say something like that, AFTER the date. It'll strengthen your connection with her, and she'll take to it much better.
