Did I text myself into a corner?

So I met this very cute asian girl online. I msgd her and got no response for like a week, until she msgd me 'did you get my msg?'

I hadn't, guess she msged me earlier (back around 1/20/12) but her machine crashed. so we went back and forth this week until I asked her to dinner this friday. she said sure and gave me her number and said text me anytime. I texted her a bit yesterday and the convo died around 6pm figured she was eating / doing schoolwork (in college) I did ask an open ended boring question. so i guess thats on me. shes actally kinda a boring texter too, gotta be a way to fix that....

Today we texted a few times, she was at work, i told her 'oh ok ill let you do your thing, call me when you get out ok?'
i already knew 5 mins after shes not gonna call me (we havent spoken on the phone yet) my idea was to get her into the Mindset of taking direction from me, im doing sh1t out of order. what do?

i dont like to text much it feels easier to fark up and not seem interesting. ive seen a bunch of material ppl offer as suggestions and i just cringe. I did have one or two really good flirting sessions with a chick, dont even remember who it was,..its just not easy to get into that headspace or open that door.

So we are to have dinner together on friday. I want to raise her excitement to see me and further my chances with her. What can I do to have her be dying to see me?

I think trying to call a girl you haven't met yet from a dating website, especially younger girls, isn't a great idea. People rarely talk on the phone even if they know each other nowadays.
