Default Should I buy a Rolex

    Guys,

Any opinions on the value of expensive jewelry etc?

Reason for question. I was talking to this girl acquaintance of mine. She is probably a 5. I like her as a friend and I am not chasing her as such. (Although I probably would bang her given the right circumstances).

Anyway, we chat and then I see one of my colleagues. I call him over and we chat all 3 for a few minutes. When he leaves she looks at me and says. "Did you notice he had a Rolex?". I was a bit surprised, because she is normally not a very shallow girl, and although I can easily afford a Rolex myself, I have shied away from it because I find it a very crude and unsophisticated display of wealth. To me it is a manifestation of lack of class. However, she has been chasing him ever since, so it must work.

I should note that he is tall, but otherwise not good looking, bald and out of shape. So I don't think she went for him because of other factors than his watch.

    Anyone having similar experiences?

A Rolex or any other expensive item is NOT gonna help improve your game.

It won't necessarily hurt it, but it CAN make you look like you're trying too hard to show off.

If you want to accessorize, just find a couple "interesting" things to wear. But even THAT isn't necessary.
Learning to be social & lead interactions with people is really all you need.

"peacocking" items are good for giving a girl a reason to approach you & starting a chat, but if YOU are the one approaching, all you need is to have fun.

I have a stainless steel Rolex and I wear it rarely ..... usually go with a stainless steel Fossil watch ...... but any girl who is interested in you because of the watch you wear is not a girl you want to get involved with

Well said. Personally, I don't wear a Rolex or any watch, and I have had women hit on me.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to spiff up your style.

I bought a pair of casual dress shoes from Walmart for $19.99, that I wear with jeans. (*side note- if you're out of high school, NEVER wear sneakers with jeans... get some inexpensive dress shoes, or cool boots.)

I picked up a Rattlesnake "slave bracelelt" from ebay for $15.00.
(That's a bracelet with a matching ring, attached by a chain.)
It definitely stands out as being a unique item.

I bought a watch from Kohl's for $12.00 that looks pretty badass...

I have a suede fall/winter vest with furry trim from Goodwill that was $3.00. It's straight out of the 70's & has a retro vibe. Definitely stands out when I wear it.

The point is, if you want a Rolex, buy one. Just don't get it for the sake of "pickup". Get it because you genuinely want a high quality watch that you can get a good return on your investment down the road if you decide to sell it.

pull out the big guns for a big fight.

my opinion--leave the expensive jewelry on the occasion that you've built some trust with the girl and you're finally taking her out to a place to eat on your dime--so maybe the 4th or 5th date where you both are seemingly more like seeing each other in a relationship kind of scenario. reason why i bring this up for this part of a timeline is because i know many people who are wealthy--and people who are wealthy and smart don't flaunt it to everyone right away because they know better--and they know what it's like to be sought after for your money. what most of them do from what i've seen in screen the people they meet--if they pass the first few rounds of being an acquaintance they'll slowly show them some of the luxuries that define them slightly different than the average person on the street. once you've reached friend or relationship status--that usually when most of the big defensive walls come down and a car, house, jewelry and so on become more visible to those friends and relationships. this keeps people on their toes and it makes them feel much more apart of something that is a little more hidden. so with a girl you're seeing if she thinks she knows you--and acts a certain way.. when you throw this at her--you might be able to see her true colors...
Every moment counts, get out of your head and enjoy it.

    thanks t-mal.

i just wanted to add--a simpler way of looking at things is... wealthy guys are like hot chicks. every girl wants a wealthy guy while every guy wants a hot chick. and when i say wealthy i mean wealth is every form... money, car, house, jewlery, friends, family, education, etc, etc...

    Well said drgnsfire12.

If you show your material wealth, you'll only attract the shallow materialistic ones. Gold diggers have a keen eye on their targets but if that's what you want then go for it.

As a guy who loves tech, I'll be sporting the Moto 360 watch soon
