    Default Just Be Yourself?

The line just be yourself is one of those lines I think is often mistranslated. Be yourself, what is it to be you.

Well, first off I'm going to start with what makes up a personality. I'm going to start off by saying you do not have a personality. Your probably thinking I'm off my rocker but take a second and here me out.

Our personality is all in our self image. If you see yourself as a rocker boy, thats what you become. If you see yourself as a loser, guess what, you are. If you see yourself as a charismatic, energetic, life loving, chick magnet, then I'm guessing you are.

Your morals, loves, hopes, dreams are all made up by you. You make yourself up how ever you want.

Now that I destroyed your sense of individualism let me go onto some good news. All this means that you can be what ever you want to be. Take out a pen and paper and spend 1 to 3 hours imagining and meditating on who you want to be. Make it as vivid as possible. Now fake it till you make it. I did not become any good at pickup till I myself started to believe I was a pickup artist.

So if you want to become your vision just hold the mask in front of yourself for long enough and eventually it will no longer be a mask.

I think it would have been just as fair to call this "Creating Your Frame."

I like this. Personality is a behavior; behaviors are learned. You can change what you learn, thus change your behavior (furthermore your personality.)

Also, "Just be yourself" is an excuse not to become your best self.
Wondering where I am now? Check out my latest project:

Thomas Metzinger's 'The Ego-Tunnel' gives some incredibly detailed and very interesting analyses of this idea of there being no 'individual self' as traditionally understood, and that such a self is itself created as an act of feedback between self-perception and external environment. 'Creating a frame' indeed.

I'm sure that it would be a very interesting conversation if you could talk to yourself from 10 years ago. Hell if you had a conversation with yourself 3 years ago. You would disagree with certain things just like you would disagree with your 3-10 year older self. And there are so many aspects to our personalities if they were manifested we would literally all represent diamonds. There is no one-self. Interesting post.

That's the basis of my philosophy of life, I live so that if I meet with my younger self, he would look at my life, and just be impressed and hi-five me

Also, I'm confident the "Just be yourself" is a woman plot to make it easier for them to screen the interesting guys from the lame guys
