    Default Style vs Modern Gurus

Why hasn't anyone been able to replicate Style's level of skill? This might sound like I don't know what I'm talking about (and I probably don't) but even on Thundercat's Ranking- through 2010 when we start to see some of the modern gurus like Brad B and Adam Lyons, he makes it clear that neither of them can approach and get results as consistently in his opinion. If it were just a matter of being in the game long enough to be that good, he wouldn't have said the same things about Style even back when the rankings first came out and everyone was new(er) to the game. So, is there a reason or is Thundercat just on Style's nuts really hard?

I'm not gonna try and answer this question because I don't have much knowledge or interest in the ranking system of PUA's but it may have something to do with the fact that Style was the "Godfather" of PUA

He created tons of techniques that we still use today...I feel like it's as if you're comparing Babe Ruth to Derek Jeter...both great players but Babe Ruth will ALWAYS be remembered

I might be falling victim to revisionist history but I actually think the godfather of all this was Mystery. There are guys who predate him (like Ross Jeffries, who's almost a laughingstock now) but as far as I know he invented the modern blueprint for pick-up. The thing is, Mystery's a little crazy and by "a little", I mean a lot. Style was able to take what Mystery taught and improve upon it because Style's...well, not crazy. But the latest Thundercat ranking I can find is from 2010 and that's where we start to see some of the modern guys but even in 2010, Thundercat can't STFU about Style. So I conclude that either Style's that good and consequently, there has to be a reason for this and someone should be able to replicate it his level of skill with the proper teachings OR Thundercat just has a mancrush.

It may have something to do with the fact that Style was the "Godfather" of PUA.

No, he was just the man with the most connections.

The thing is, Mystery's a little crazy and by "a little", I mean a lot.

Do you know him? Or only Neil's chosen literary presentation of him? Similarly, do you believe everything you hear on the news?

Stick around long enough and you'll start to see how everything is politics, even in pickup. The "Top PUA" lists? They're all over the place, each and every one of them one person's personal opinion on the matter; personal, because they may be swayed by their own relationships/affiliations to those involved. There's even a good chance at monetary pull. Don't believe everything you read. Don't even believe everything you see. Hell, don't even listen to me until you try out what I say.

Neil's not the best, he's just the most famous, and I'm sure he'd tell you that.

Even politicians are great at gaming. I do not think one person is better than the other when it comes to socializing. One person might memorize more social routines than another or practice more or have more confidence or even have more connections but at the end of the day a simple man can do what another do especially in the realm of things which is not physical (non-athletics).

So only put yourself on a pedestal because a man is just a man.

    Well I think it's like X-MEN.

My two cents: up at the level where you compare Mystery, Style, Sinn, Matador and all the next two dozen or so MPUA's I don't think there's really all that much difference. How can you really say who is the best out of 20 guys, each of whom can walk into a room, point to a random chick and be taking her home. You could see who does it fast enough, who gets the most ioi's from her, who can keep her strung along with the most elaborate game, who can make her the loudest (in the doing of the deed.) But at the end of the day, that's all really going to come down to luck and random circumstance as to who works the best in their different ways.

There was a bald guy in X-MEN as well. Is name was Professor Charles Xavier. Some might say he was the most powerful mutant ever, some might say he was relatively weak on his own. Truth his power (though he trained and honed it to an extraordinary degree) wasn't really any more or less powerful than any other mutant (by any objective measure - as objective as fiction can get of course )

What was true was that regardless of ability there were few who contributed as much to the community as he did. I'm talking of course about both Style and Professor X in their respective fields.

Fair. There will always be a fissure between what it means to be a good PUA and what it means to be a good teacher, to contribute. They're all good, but they've all contributed on different levels.

I've always thought that TD would go down in PUA history as our own personal Freud. His ethics questionable and life something left to be desired (Eh, it's up in the air), all the work he's done for the community is insane. The dude goes hard.
