Default Opinions on Roosh V and Return of Kings

    Hey Guys,

I wanted your opinions on Roosh V (and I guess by extention Return of Kings). If you like him, why and for what reasons; if not, why not?

I can't believe nobody has responded to this.

Read this quote from him, and then after I will explain some stuff. The quote is gold:

"I want to be a man where someone meets me and thinks, 'He could have stopped years ago, but he kept going.' And then maybe it will inspire him to reach the absolute limit of what he himself can achieve as a human being."

I like Roosh because what he described in that quote is exactly what I chase after. I don't chase after girls anymore. My focus is on being a man that people look at in awe. That probably sounds conceited but I don't care, my aspirations are so much higher than just getting laid.

What Roosh preaches is mostly about putting yourself first, and then finding girls that are receptive to that. That whole concept blows PUA techniques out of the water. I wish I could explain it to the guys on here who always make it about one specific girl.

That being said, I think it takes a rare breed to be able to digest everything he says and put it to good use. If you look at his forum you will see what I mean, a lot of dorks and beta males who read his stuff just to feel empowered. Don't ask me why. I'm starting to believe that some guys just don't have what it takes. But, if a guy has what it takes, I think he can benefit from reading Roosh's blog.

In my experience I was lucky enough to have the raw materials, it just took me a long time to realize it in this society. The only warning I give people is once you fall down the rabbit hole of hardcore self-improvement it's a blessing and a curse if you really follow through. The curse is that you just can't relate to average people anymore. I've been on a different wavelength than most people my entire life, but once I started to chase the vision of fulfillment I have for myself I might as well be on a different planet. I'm still in college too so it's even worse. The blessing is that people start to look at you differently. Girls can smell it on you. I swear it's magnetic or something. I wasn't even prepared to respond to all the attention I started getting.

I've read a lot of your old posts, so I think you can relate and hopefully this can help you out. I don't know if you have had the turning point conversation with yourself yet, but I got to the point where I sat down one day and I realized that I had something special, I realized I had pretty much everything I needed, but I was standing in my own way. The thought came through my head after was something like, "If you ever want to be great, now is the time." It was like turning a key. I actually started reading Roosh's blog right before all these changes happened. I'm not going to say it was that blog that changed my life, but that's what was in the tank when I really took off. I would definitely be interested to know your perspective on Roosh as well.

    Thanks General,

I've learned a lot from different PUAs (and former PUAs), but that never meant that I liked them or respected them. For example, I've probably learned close to the most from Owen Cook (Tyler Durden), and I like him a fair amount, but I don't have the utmost respect for him. Granted, I've never met him either, that's just from my gathered assumptions.

But when it comes to respect, I believe my list goes something like this:

    1. Mark Manson (hands down)
    2. Ciaran Healy
    3. Roosh V

Note that the first two left pickup. They identify differently, and it's primarily for that reason that I respect them. My respect for Roosh is different. He made himself by himself with the help of (comparatively) no one. I have mad respect for that. When it comes to his content, I admit that I disagree a fair amount, but that just points to the difference between whom I've learned from and whom I respect.

I get what you're saying. I feel the same way. I should also say that this forum isn't ideal for the kind of guys you're talking about (not knocking it; I love this forum and intentionally chose it over others because I liked the feel). If you were to head on over to SoSuave or RSD Nation, you would find more guys balls deep in the manoshpere, chugging the Kool-Aid. That's a dangerous place to be.

I see where you're coming from. I've never gotten that deep into PUA to the point where I have read lot of material. I read the game, then found this forum a couple weeks later. I could actually give you credit for how fast I moved through the material, because when I found this forum I saw your farewell post some of the other stuff you posted and it clicked with me. You were walking into to parties with chocolate milk and just owning it. I'm in college and I know how rare that is when everyone else around you can't comprehend the idea of drinking anything other than Miller High Life and cheap shots of Vodka. After that I stopped reading game material for a few months.

I came back to it when a girl on facebook posted a link to Matt Forney's blog saying that it was so terrible that he liked shy insecure girls. I looked up a picture of him, and proceeded to laugh my a** off. But that did lead me to finding Roosh's blog, which clicked with me, but I have really only read the posts tagged "lifeblood". The other manosphere stuff I stay away from. I don't have time to listen to dudes who are probably real-life betas, whining about feminism (that, and I seriously couldn't take the manosphere seriously after seeing the picture of Matt Forney).

I definitely agree with you about having respect for these guys vs liking them. Thinking about it that way I would have to say that I respect Roosh more than like him. The one person I would say I like, but I'm not sure I respect, is Tucker Max. Obviously that isn't true PUA material, but it speaks volumes about the concept of just owning who you are, and embracing the fact that people will either love you or hate you for it.

All that being said, I have gotten way more mileage out of observing guys who have really killed life on the world stage, and just taking my cues from them. That blows the doors open. I've taken stuff from great writers, boxers, musicians, basketball players, and even some Army Generals.

As far as this forum goes, I feel the same way. I think these guys will probably be a lot better off in the long run than the manosphere guys, and I would rather help out a guy trying to win over a girl he really likes as opposed to trying to help guys that just play the numbers game. I guess I feel like there is no real place for me, so I just stand apart from it all.

I wouldn't have worded it the same way as you General but that's pretty much my aim also. After several incidents I found myself on this forum looking at how to be the man, how to build yourself up and focus on you. I've been reading into The Art of war, The Book of five rings, Hagakure and generally books on how to conduct yourself in a certain way that is efficient in achieving your goals.

I'd recommend them for sure and will give this Roosh dude a read up too
