Why would you want to? If it works it will be trouble, if it doesn't it will be more trouble... Especially if they are in your food chain somehow.

Getting romantically (or physically) involved with co-workers probably isn't going to end well. I tried to game a girl from my volunteer job, and I still feel some awkward Tension from time to time. I would've much preferred to just have her in the friend zone and focused on meeting her friends that don't work with us. I knew that she was Spanish-speaking, half-Lebanese and into salsa dancing. That was a bit too much for me to resist, esp knowing that she's single.

If you're working in a customer service role, customers are generally fair game. There might be cute barista near where you work that you can see on a regular basis getting your morning coffee. Plenty of other opportunities out there.

That being said, if you really want to go for a co-worker, the key is to be indirect with her. To find out if she is single, make a joke about "her boyfriend." Talking with a co-worker a few years back, I joked, "Too bad you don't have a boyfriend that knows how to cook for you." And she responded, "Yeah, my boyfriend is a real bad cook." I moved on.

Instead of asking her on a date or sending her suggestive text messages, invite her to hang out with a group of co-workers for happy hour or some other post-work social event. Making it a group outing takes the pressure off her, and it lets her see who you are when you are not at work.

If you have a co-worker that you trust, you can ask him or her to find out some information about this co-worker through the grape vine. Obviously you want to be careful about who you ask for help.

Many work places have strict anti-sexual harassment policies. I worked for a restaurant that wouldn't even let the bartender date one of the waiters. Generally the rules are a little looser than that: no dating people who report to you and stuff like that about who reports to whom. Have fun out there, and keep us posted!

Your fellow wingman here. Depends. If your job has strict policies against that then yea I guess I wouldn't do it.
