Default need feedback on an opener.

i have just thought of an opener and need some tips on how to use it. quick little explanation on how i thought of it- when me and my buddy would get lunch or something and they gave us one check all together, we would argue about who would pay for it because we dont know who looks better, the guy paying or the guy getting his lunch paid for. so i was thinking maybe this opener would b good on waitresses only and it would go something like this. "hey, i need your quick opinion on a debate me and my friend are having. who do you think looks better when the tab comes, the guy buying or the guy getting his paid for, or doesnt it matter?" i would like some feedback on this, because right now, i think the line might need some finetuning.

Don't like it. It comes off like you don't know basic social convention and almost seems like a dlv. But the idea itself can work but on ANYONE. the key is to make it a teasing joke not an opinion opener.

With a big smile "so, on a man date, who is supposed to pay?" Kinda like saying "I'm gay" but if you do it right she knows your interested. Also you can take it many places "sorry were here together, no girls tonight; we came for the bromance". And don't use it only on waitresses, I could see myself working that at a group NEXT to me at a bar at lunch or happy hour. The key is your saying something jokingly and the answer really DOESN'T MATTER. She knows you just wanted to chat. Not for a nightclub but awesome at coffeehouse or food-bar.
