I thought I was good at picking up women until I found out I was not

Hey guys, I am new to the forums. Interested in finding out techniques other guys use that are successful for picking up women in social/ sometimes drunk situations.

I am a college student, electrical engineering major. I put effort into what I wear so I am often compliments on what I wear. (mostly by my friends and their moms/sisters). I work at a bank and always figured I was confident, but lurking through this forum has made me realize I am really not. Most of the time when I meet a girl that I feel is attractive and she likes me I feel "lucky".

In high school I was very insecure and shy. I feel like I live in my head and my thoughts during social situations where I want to Talk To A Girl instead of actually putting actions to my thoughts.

One huge thing I lack, is I suck at eye contact. when my eyes meet a girls from across the room I instantly look away, when I don't I feel like a "creeper".

I am going to a party at a friends college tonight. The guy is known for ALWAYS having gorgeous women around him. He is usually in the "friend zone" though.

Can anyone give me some ideas on things I can workout today before I go to the party??

Hold your eye contact, count to 3 in your head before you break away and then smile. This is important. If they smile back take it as an invitation
If you stand there and don't move she'll see you working up the courage and you lose many points. It's called the 3 second rule

Tease girls as much as you can but don't be mean be playful
Use role reversal, ask them to hold your drink then ask if they roofied it or accuse them of trying to get you drunk to take advantage of you

These "disqualifiers" make a woman put down her defenses and start pursuing you

Not easy to give 5 minut pre-party advice but that's a good starting point

Never second guess yourself, never qualify yourself, never call a girl hot unless it's the morning after and youve woken up next to her

Tomorrow go pick up a copy of "the game" by Neil Strauss

Thanks guys, I actually used the "Are you trying to get me drunk" qualifier this weekend. I was at a college, everyone was pretty drunk at the parties so occasionally I would have girls just come up and start grinding on me. I had a handle of rum and I let her take a couple shots. She handed it back and I asked "Are you trying to get me drunk?" She pretty much found me every couple minutes the rest of the night. I was telling a story to all her friends and one of them said I should be a comedian, she Immediately saw that her friend was interested in me and asked where I was going after the party. Needless to say, we went back to my friends place together haha. Very good time

sorry for the double post. Just wanted to add that I am downloading the book right now.

Also I went to a frat party on Saturday. If anyone knows how that works you get asked "who you know" just so you can get in the party. It was literally a 4-1 ratio of girls to guys. My good friend introduced us to all the frat members. The guys mentioned they liked dubstep (music) and I had a huge collection on my iphone so within an hour of getting there I was in charge of music. I had girls requesting songs and guys coming over shaking my hand saying thanks for taking care of the music. A guy I met that night came up to me and mentioned that one of the girls he knew wanted to know who I was (in a good way). So I went over in introduced myself and started by saying I only have a minute or two because I have to get back behind the bar. She asked where I was staying and I took her number. She came back to my friends place with one of her friends. Every guy I was with had a girl and she naturally came over and sat on my lap and then asked where I was sleeping. I said "let me show you" she smiled and followed my downstairs.
