    Default Possibly Botched 2nd date

I am in my 40's and been back in the dating game for three years. I met this girl and we went to dinner. Evening was nice and she seemed to have a good time. A few days later I asked her over for dinner and she accepted.

She came over and it started great. Some times during conversation she got a blank look and stared off elsewhere. I think I was losing her, or possibly said too much.

The things really went bad. I over cooked dinner. The steak was very well done. And while I was working on something else I forgot about the potato's. They were overcooked too. She seemed to laugh about it. Anyway it was after 10 that we finished eating.

Since it was Sunday (last night) we both had to work today. So she said she hated to eat and run, but needed to go. And she left. As she was leaving I asked about going out again and she said sure, call me.

Well needless to say I didn't get a good vibe. I like her and would like to continue to get to know her. I don't want to come across pushy or needy or anything.

I thought about sending her a text today. Tell me what you think?

"Hey, (her name) need some advice, I had dinner with this great girl last night. Do you have any advice for how I can continue to get to know her?"

    Is that too cheesy?

Sounds like The Vibe wasn't great. So I'd say something like this today:

"Oh man, having some of the left over potatoes from last night for lunch. God they're even worse today. Have a good one, techguy"

Regardless of whether she responds or not, leave it for a day or 2 before contacting her again.

    hope this helps

I agree with rs5096. Joke about it, but say nothing that indicates you need anything from her. If you are getting the right indications from her I suggest one of two things: Either tell her she is coming over for a fixit dinner. That or tell her that the next time she is cooking for you to guarantee the food is good. Its a good subtle compliment without going to self deprecating (which can work, but isn't to be used unless you are really good at it) Cooking together is usually a good date and gives many opportunities for Kino and flirting in general.
