Default Need help with a FB girl with a dark past.

I met a girl on an online dating site. We swapped a few messages and then she added me on facebook. We've been swapping more messages, just light stuff, common interests etc. But she hinted that she's had a rough time in the past, it seemed she was keen to tell me about it so I asked. Turns out she is a 21 year old widow her husband (they married at 18) died in a car crash a couple of years ago, as a result she had a year of turmoil (her words) where she was either living out of hotels or sometimes sleeping rough. She's got her life together now and in terms of looks and mutual interests she is perfect. My problem is that this deluge of information about her past is the last thing she sent me. What the hell do I reply to that??

If you're just looking to lay this girl, leave her be. She's basically telling you that she doesn't want to hurt anymore.

If you want to be serious with her.. let her know something like the following:
"I've been through the same ordeal with a family member I cared about greatly.. but lets get off this subject because I refuse to talk about it much".

You dont have to reply anything. You asked, you listened. Your not a councellor. Ask her out on a date. It might work out romanticly or you might gain a cool friend. As mugs said you dont have to talk about it anymore, its just something she wanted you to know about.

I met a girl many years ago through a dating site. Same thing. Lost her fiance in a motorbike accident. Kinda shocked me but ultimately we never went further romanticly because she was not 100% my type and I probably wasn't hers either (she rides big bikes, I dont). But we became friends and we both ultimately helped each other in discussing dating, life etc. We are still friends to this day.
