Default FB opener from mobile phone, your thoughts appreciated.

I just found a couple of HBs on the facebook page of the University I'm going to. I decided to open with an odd message:

"There are two charity collectors on the street, and I only have a 2 coin in change. Do I save the tigers or the donkeys?"

I thought this makes me seem like I care enough to give to charity; also, implies that i'm financially sound that a) I have money to donate and b) I have more than the change I have in my pocket. Furthermore, it's quirky, mentions animals and also maybe a subtle way of asking what sort of guy she likes.

    Tiger: Dominant male.
    Donkey: Joker.

Plus it can be followed up by something like:

"Wow that's harsh!, what have the donkeys/tigers ever done to you? I never pegged you as a donkey/tiger hater."

My first go at an online opener, what do you think?

    Respect.

It's actually a pretty good message!
I'm not totally sure as far as an opener (exactly as it is now) but it's pretty good....It would definitely be a good one after a couple exchanges, to get the convo flowing into one, or several areas.

But I DO like the fact that it's different than "Hey, how are you?

I think you're totally on the right track.

I think it's good, wierd if she doesn't know u, but good and it'll help u transition into a lot of other conversations. Use another strong animal instead of the tiger cuz if she's a little educated sh'ell pick the tiger cuz it's endangered so it won't be an accurate cold read. Be sure to tell her later that u get the feeling that she likes the strong male/jocker type of guy.
