I just signed up for an online dating site about a week ago and during my first day online a girl whose name sounded familiar viewed my profile. While the name rang a bell her pictures looked completely foreign to me so I forgot about her for several days.
After this brief hiatus I finally decided to message her. The message was both playful and funny and included some questions about whether we knew each other. Her response arrived within a few hours. The overall tone seemed positive and she actually named a few events that we attended together and knew each from.
Here's the kicker we haven't seen or talked with each other in 12 years! I still only vaguely remember her but she seems to remember me pretty well. I confronted her about this and she claimed she has "a good memory". While that might be true I think that there are some pretty strong feelings on her side. 12 years is an extremely long time. We also talked a little about how she's been using the site for quite some time and isn't finding a guy she can connect with.
I'd like an outsider's point of view on this. Do you think the fact that this girl remembers me after 12 years of no contact signals she's into me? Do you think the fact that she was willing to talk about her lack of success on the site is an indication that she wants me to ask her out? Oh, and 12 years ago we were in middle school. That was the last time we had contact before a few days ago.
