Default Ever Heard Of The Commitment Principle? - Dating Rule #11

Before i explain this principle to you, do note that i got this principle from a book on disguised persuasion techniques for your business purposes. After much brainstorming, i finally came out with an idea of how this would work in the dating scene, so if you all find can find any ways to improve it, do remember to comment below on how (: Alright, without further ado, i present to you, The Commitment Principle.

There is this principle that many businesses use to great effect. It's called the 'commitment principle'. Businesses realized that when they let a customer fill up a sales agreement form by themselves instead of having the salesman fill it up for them, the refund rate drop by 70%. This, scientist believe, is because we tend to believe and commit more to what we have written down ourselves. Thus, the mere act of writing something down leads the customers to believe and honour whatever is written down on the sales agreement.

Now, how can we use this principle for the dating world?

The best thing i can think of is that you can get your date to write down your next appointment, write it down, type it down, it shouldn't matter, as long as it originated from him or herself and some visible reminder is made. This would lead to more follow up dates and less last minute cancellations. Of course, this would work assuming you were liked enough to get a follow-up date. If you didn't deserve a follow-up date but was given one, then perhaps it'll grant you another chance to redeem yourself, or prove yourself again, heh.

This is one of the few ways i can convert this business disguised persuasion technique into a way that the dating game could use it. Do tell me if you all can brainstorm other ways that this principle can be applied to the dating game or how this tactic can be improved and i would gladly add to it. I read through every comment and even a short anonymous comment would go a long way to helping me improve this blog post. (:

    Yours sincerely,

    Again, great post...

We all know that when you are in a relationship, let's say a gf-bf relationship, there is always a commitment present. But how about a guy who just wants to have fun and hook up with women without commitment with a girl, would that affect the dating strategy?

Hmm, not really actually, it shouldn't. This tactic is mainly used to ensure a date or a follow-up date, it's not so much as commitment. When you're out there on a date, that's where it's up to you to work your magic and have fun with her, this tactic gets you as far as securing a date with her, or possibly a follow-up date, haha.

This tactic, by the way, has almost absolutely nothing to do with commitment in a relationship (ironic isn't it, haha). It's using the principles of commitment and all the variables that affects it to get you on a date with the girl

I guess investment, and not commitment per se, is what you get a girl to make so she'd flake out less. Getting her to qualify herself for you, like convincing you she's fun and smart and not just a pretty face, that's going to make her like you more because she had to work a bit to 'get' you.

Haha true, she had to do some work to get you yeah. That's a good idea. No one treasures freebies, you treasure the items the most of you actually worked really hard for em yeah? (:
