Default Are there people actually like this?

So having attempted to meet someone new. With every indication that when (if) we did meet, it was going to be good. And when I say good, I mean goooooooood. Ah-huh...
But then there were all the excuses. First she was sick; then her family was sick; then she was sick again; then the whole family was sick at once; then it was just her mom, and she had to hold her mom's hair while sick; then she had to help people move; then there was PMS; she had to go shopping; I finally got her to admit that it was a lot of just being nervous - which I made mention I was, too; then she was just too tired; she had gotten ready for bed early, after saying we would see each other that day; she was sick with gas.....
Outside of all the excuses, she kept making the gooooooooood very front and center.
She finally made a promise on her own that we would see each other tonight. Even a cross her heart promise.
Annnnnnnnnd then there was the excuse that she has to take care of her mom and grandma and her mom can't sleep without her in the house. But with the promise that tomorrow we would see each other.
At which point I told her flat out that, with all the repeated excuses, I just couldn't believe her anymore if she broke her promise tonight.
Which got me a "Ok. I guess you can't believe me then :P :P"

Are there people that are actually like this? Or is it me that is really the asshole?

In a word, yes. You should dump it the very first time a girl pulls that shit on you.

No second chances is the safest way to play. But hey see if its worth it
Every moment counts, get out of your head and enjoy it.

There is something else going on there and since I'm guessing your not a clinical therapist, it's time to move on because you can't save everybody

You're giving her too many chances. Just back off from her and see if she texts you first. If so, assume that she wants to see you and then set up a date. If not, don't worry about it and move on.
