So I debated for awhile about whether or not to post this (since I still use it), but as I read another post about Text Game and his choice to give back to the community, I figured I would do the same.
Tinder, love it or hate it, can arguably be the most efficient platform for meeting people online. For my own education, I set up a little experiment for myself to see what things worked and what didn't. Eventually, I enlisted the help of a female friend to find out what works/doesn't work for women looking for men, in order to get a full spectrum of how to use the app efficiently.
But arguably, one of the most difficult challenges I had was finding something to open with that actually elicited a response...consisten tly. Then came up with something that I think worked pretty well. Over the course of 2015, I have matched with about 1200 different women. I recently started doing this in other countries just to see if the techniques I was using worked internationally. I had some interesting results. In almost all the instances, I used the line and it actually worked.
I can share all that info, and the combinations of pictures/profile wording/etc. I used later if anyone is interested, but for now I'll just focus on the line.
Regardless of what her profile says (with the exception of a few who write me first), I pretty much copy and paste the following to everyone I match with:
"Congrats!! you managed to swipe right and find the next Aladdin of Tinder! So where do we go from here?"
Almost immediately I will receive one of the following responses:
1) "on a magic carped ride [duh]..."
2) "I don't know, you tell me "
3) "well...we can go just about anywhere"
4) "well hello there Aladdin"
6) Nothing (no response)
7) "You're an idiot" (rarest response, but worth noting)
What I've noticed about the line is that it is both original and disarming. It also allows for some intrigue/mystery (why is he Aladdin? Who Says that? ..does he really have a magic carpet?) with a Disney character that nearly everyone knows. And who doesn't love old Disney movies right? I can't prove it, but I'm sure it elicits some sort of smile or laugh from the person, and automatically makes you stand out from everyone else using prefab Tinder openers or just the boring "hey".
The first 3 responses are the best, because it allows you to play on the whole Aladdin thing for a bit (don't overdo it), and then transition into another topic after you've captured her interest. In a way, I can kinda relate my real life to the story of Aladdin so it gives the premise some validity (no, I don't steal apples from street vendors to get by anymore).
Anyway, try it for a few times and see what your results are. Not saying this works all the time, but it worked the majority of the time for me.
Interested to hear any feedback you have about it, and if you want more details let me know.
