Re: too cocky?
I know this is dated as he already saw her again, but here's my input:
There is no such thing as too cocky, so long as you can back it up and don't have to tread on others to get there.

Chances are you weren't the only guy to get her number; possibly not even the only one to contact her that night (kind of seems desperate, to me).
There are two ways to make sure she knows who you are when you text a new woman, "hey guess who?" By the way, this should have been typed, "Hey! Guess who..." Have some pride in your typing.
1. Make such an amazing impact on her night that she guesses you, hoping it is you. She didn't even try to guess.
2. When I get a woman's number or she gets mine (yes, this happens), I immediately call it so she can save my name with it and knows who the number belongs to. This is done for other reasons, as well.
If you insisted on going with what you sent, I would at least make a game out of it. Instead of admitting defeat, for the night, hoping she begs you to play with her, give her some competition. Give her a hint of who you were based on your earlier interaction. Make a game for her to play. I doubt she was kept up all night wondering who this mystery man is.
How would that be a detriment to his social value? If anything, it helped him. See my post about using a wing-woman.
