Important scenario

I have a question for you to discuss.

There is an incredibly cute girl in my class. She is the professor's assistant, and she gives sessions out of the classroom for the ones that don't understand certain topics about the class. I have been to 3 of her sessions but didn't really have the oportunity to talk to her about stuff. (the only reason i go to the sessions is to see her lol). Anyways, today i went to one of her sessions and i was the only one there.Only she and I. when she finished explaining all the stuff that "I didn't understand", I asked here if she was taken any classes on campus, and blah blah blah we started talking from there. At one point I told her my major was architecture, and the moment i mentioned architecture, she told me that her boyfriend studied architecture too, but that he already finished the whole program. We had a nice conversation, and at the end she just walked to one of her classes and I went home.

Are there girls that say they have a boyfriend just to make you think that you don't have a chance with her, or to let you think you are losing your time.

Women tell you they have boyfriends for one of these reasons, generally:

1. They actually do (This doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't looking for something better).
2. They want to test you, to make sure you aren't just trying to get into their pants.
3. You made them uncomfortable in some way (this can be the reason for number 2).

If you weren't hitting on her in any noticeable way, it is probably 1. If you were hitting on her either explicitly or implicitly it could be any of the above. Since you aren't asking for advice on the actual situation, I will leave you with that.

I wasn't actually hitting on her in any noticeable way. I was like making some conversation and find more about her.
your response actually brought me to a question that has been around my head for quite a while. When i hear the word boyfriend i often tend to back up and to forget about it. but at the same time I feel like I want to find a way for her to forget about his boyfriend and pay attention to me. I mean how do i know when a girl is looking for a better relationship?..somet imes I want to hit on the girl that has a boyfriend but at the same time I tend to say to myself that I'm either losing my time, making the fool out of myself, and maybe she will be offended if i make some kind of move on her when she knows that i know she has a boyfriend.

If she just say's it, she probably does. If she say's it when you are hitting on her - she 'may' have one but it doesn't matter. Ignore it in this case as you have no idea if it is a defense mechanism, a true statement or what. Frankly, there are very good odds she is not satisfied and just keeping the bf around while she tries to find a better guy (you).
