Problem with opening a 4 set

Hey folks, I was out with my buddies a few nights ago for a dinner & drink. I was at a restaurant where they'd try to create a semi-club environment (except ppl just eat and chat). I saw loads of ladies there and one of my friend seemed to have his eye on a chick when he sat down.

I watched as he starred at her a few times with lust and I really wanted to help him open the set. However, check this out:

- 4 set
- 2 guys, 2 girls
- these guys and girls are probably older than us

To be honest, I'm a little afraid that the guys are older but it didn't scare me to bits... except I felt that I was tripped up not knowing how I could open this set without looking intrusive because I'm pretty sure the 2 guys will be on high defense mode the moment I try to enter.

It also seems like a double date was going on so had I stepped in, I would be running around in a mine field. How can I pull this one off? Any ideas for future reference?

I would've tried to actually game the guys first, get them comfortable with you and you're in the set. If it's really a double date they'll tell you. Otherwise you could've asked them for the relationship in which they all correspond to each other.

Frank's right. Next time you see a similar set, observe first for signs that it's a date. If you're unsure, then go game the guys to be sure. If you were sure just from observing them then there'd be no point to go to work (unless maybe the girls are obviously not having a great time?) lest the guys get all defensive and raging with testosterone on you.
