rejected and cocked blocked by friend

I was at a club last night and I approached a HB8 and a HB7 my target was the HB8. so i saw her both girls sitting on a small stage drinking and dancing. so I sit next to the HB8 and tell her that she so go on the dance floor. Then then they introduce themselves and the HB7 sorts of moves away (prob because it was obvious that I was hitting on the HB8) so i talked to her and pointed to my crew (my roommates) and said u both have to dance with us. then out of nowhere one of her other friends (not the HB7) pulls her away. What did I do wrong? How can I improve?

I hope you havent chased her when her friend did that
otherwise I would do the same sh1t as Mystery, just pick up friends attention really fast and be charming to her.

too direct, where the setting did NOT call for it. you probably wanted to start something like you sit down because youve been dancing for so long, exhausted blah. looking away from them but noticeably resting and looking around or focusing on some areas that are noticeable. then you just notice them and say hi. so you didnt come off too strong, and you broke the ice.
