Default My book list for you

This is a list of some of what I've read, whats valuable, what's not, and what I think others should read.
I like paper books too, they're easy to read. But to be honest theres so many e-books on game I may have to get a e-reader and expand.

The Game by Neil Strauss (AKA Style) - strongly reccomended as the first book for anyone to read, well worth reading at any point however. Strauss is a fantastic author and this book is full of solid, simple, subtle game, has tips that anyone can incorporate into their game

The mystery method by mystery (real name something funky)
This is mystery's step by step approach to the game. This is highly valuable material for people who have some base understanding of the game. Not your first book, but an absolute must have. This book is 100% material, no story. Add it to your collection, just know that mystery is a bit crazy.

Rules of the game by Strauss - this book is full of more material from Style, but approached as 30 individual challenges to be taken sequentially to get you over the game. He starts with simple things, you goal today is to talk to 5 different people, just say hi. Then it gets progressive into imbedding false time constraints, getting out of your comfort zone, etc.

How to make anyone fall in love with you- Leil Lowndes. This book is not about game, it is her very traditional approach to dating. Leil is smart tho, she touches on a ton of clues on how to understand body language and IOIs, how to know when a girl is trying to open you, etc. This book is full of stuff that many of you should recognize as AFC, but it is worth reading none-the less because some of what you can take away from it is still powerful regarding the psychology of traditional attraction.

Double your dating (E-Book) - David Deangelo
This is a helpful book, but read with caution. Deangelo advocates his style he calls "Cockey-funny". This works for some people but I dont particularly advocate it. Think like - teasing girls but being super agressive and cockey about it just hoping for a laugh. He does have some great tips in here tho such as his ideas on escalation, 2 steps forward, one step back. Well reccomended but not necessarily a must-have.

The pickup artist - Mystery
Mystery's most recent book (I think). This is worth reading. Its the Mystery method revised, but written more like a story. This is not full of nearly as much material as the mystery method, but is still very valuable and has some great advanced information on things like stripper game, and balancing the flame and the ghost. Definitly reccomended

The Art of Seduction - Robert Green
Almost worthless. This is considered one of the classics, but.... yea. Green breaks out some of the classic types of seductors and seductees and goes into long, long, long, drawn out stories. Its borring, and you will take away almost nothing. Don't waste your time. Green really lacks information about actual pickup and how to incorporate it into your game today.

The Layguide - Tony Klink,
Klink discusses his basic guide on game and pickup. I'm actually only half way through this so its a partial review. He is heavily influenced by Ross Jeffries who he references in several places. He does however take bits of Mystery, Deangelo, and others, and makes clear references to them. 70% of the book is reinforcing basic stuff discussed in the books above, still worth reading. 20% is more or less new material, or similar approaches just not discussed elsewhere and quite valuable for comparisons. Then 10% of it is basically AFC stuff I'm surprised made it in there, advocates direct stuff telling girls how cute they are, etc (to be fair he distinguishes the strategies you would use on a 10 however).
By and large I reccomend it. Its also a very good book for begginers because he tells you some very simple stuff for people to do to start making conversations and saying HI to people without jumping right into pickup. Just understand not all of it is solid advice, but its a pretty good book for begginers looking for more advice. ( I believe he will get into more advanced stuff, he's alluded to it but like I said I'm only halfway through)

The principles of social competence- Ebook (free) by manhood academy. I started reading this book for a while from suggestions by another post on this forum, then skimmed the rest of it looking for more. His book is a breakdown of the problems feminism creates and the reasons pickup works by re-establishing the balance the way the world is supposed to be.
Don't waste your time. Not saying there isn't an argument here, but the book is straight up hostile to women and not the least bit of use to PUAs.

How to talk to anyone- Leil Lowndes (same author who wrote how to make anyone fall in love with you). Not really a book on game. If you love what she wrote in the first book, check this out, its really more simple stuff about talking to business people or random strangers and such. Not valuable for game tho.

I posted this partially so I can reference it when people ask what to read. This should give a short explanation of what I think you can get out of the books and all.

I'd like to hear everyone else's take on these books, as well as what you favorite one or two must read books are that are not on this list. I'm always looking for more game to read so please post your favorites.

Of the first six books I have read five. I Haven't read "how to double your dating" by Dave DeAngelo.

I have to second that "The Game" is not only full of great material, it also gives you a solid understanding on what the philosophy of running game actually is, and what it entails.

mystery method is excellent, but you have to really be into PUA stuff to read it. I thought it was awesome, but I am also very analytical and was breaking it down piece by piece. I loaned it to "Air", and intend to reread it now that my game has advanced in order to see what can get from it the second time around.

"How to make anyone fall in love with you" seems to be geared more to teach women how to get men interested, however there is some very valuable info in there for men as well. I recommend it, but I found it to be a tough read at some parts.

"The Pickup Artist" I am almost finished with and now that I have a stronger grasp on PUA stuff I feel like it is actually one of the most valuable pieces of literature that I have invested in. I will say that I think it is NOT the first book someone should read though. You need a foundation before you start this one.

"Rules of the Game" I am almost finished with my 30 days, and this book is also outstanding. It is loaded with canned openers that you can use and also really helps you reinforce your inner game. DO NOT take this book lightly if you intend to finish all the steps and actually complete the 30 day challenge which I am going to do.

The rest of the books I can not give a fair opinion on so I will stop here. However, Baron really knows his game techniques, so I can comfortably endorse his recommendations and can say from personal experience you should read the books I touched on in my supplementation to this post.

This is great stuff Baron and Tropics.

And is "How to win friends and influence people" a good read? even though it's not necessarily for gaming.

Cheers

I'm currently reading Swinggcat's book "Real Life seduction" which talks about about frames, Push-Pull and prizability. It's pretty good.

Btw, I think Swinggcat is Twotimer from "The Game".

Thanks a lot for this list. I was looking for something like a workbook, or something of the sort to get started with breaking over aa and getting into the Mindset. I read "The Game", it was very eye opening, and now "Rules of the Game" looks just like the right book to take me through the steps to improvement.

To Killian, I think reading any book on social skills is very helpful. Each author has a different way of wording the same issues, and as a result of reading multiple books you should be able to get a better rounded idea of what you need to do to improve your game. Remember, you can't make a rational decision with only one side of the story...so hearing it from different sides is essential!

Default Re: My book list for you

I’ve read a few more things recently I want to touch on:

How to Meet and Connect with Women – by Juggler
Excellent book. Now ranked number 4 in my list of must read books for a PUA. Juggler advocates Direct Game, opposite approach to most of what Mystery teaches. He discusses how to make
your conversational flow much more interesting and how to game without routines. I recommend this to people with some practice of the game first, it helps round out your abilities after you’ve gotten the confidence to approach, make conversation, etc.

I am not a pure advocate of direct nor Indirect Game. I think there’s a lot you need to take from both. Overall I prefer juggler’s style because he doesn’t use routines, although some things like the indirect openers and disqualifiers taught by others should still be mixed in.
Also worth noting, Juggler is by far the best I’ve read at naturally eliciting values. Talking about experiences, making everything more interesting and getting girls to appeal to your values. Great artist you must read.

“The Layguide” By Klink
I’m editing my review after finishing this book. Got more disappointed toward the end.
This book is ok to read, but not a top priority. 70% of this book is a rehash of stuff you will learn in the game and other material, 15% is new or differently reviewed potentially worthwhile, but the remaining 15% he discusses is downright bad technique. A mix of direct game but not the direct game Juggler teaches. Don’t read this if you’re new to the game. Read it as supplemental later into your development if you would like once you can pretty well understand much of the game.

“The players black Book” – by PUA calling himself “The Player”
Take it or leave it. I honestly forgot most of what he talked about already. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t new or particularly amazing or memorable. He goes through his overview of the pickup, opening, making conversation, just nothing great.
I will say of note – he does advocate being honest with your intentions with women, he calls it the difference between being a player and a liar, which I consider the difference between being a PUA and a player. Really just a poor title because of the connotations of “player” now a days.

“The ultimate texting guide”
This is not the ultimate texting guide. Book is not worthless, it has a lot of little tips and things you can text, but none of it is phenomenal. Most of what is useful is just a rehash of other game like putting disqualifiers into texts. Really not recommended, read the other game books and apply what you learn there into text.

“Juggler’s compiled posts”,
A 92 page EBook where juggler discusses some scenarios with direct game
Well worth reading as a supplement to Juggler’s first book, not required. Less techniques and more examples. Read “how to meet and connect with women” first, go to this if you’re looking for more.

“Natural Game” by Gambler
Highly highly recommended, I’m putting this book as number 2 in the must read. I’ve bookmarked several things like opening, how to properly use challenges for girls (elicit values) and how to react to hooks, like what to say when a girl says I’m into X. For example he doesn’t really used canned responses but somewhat prepared ways to connect better to the core values their interests represent and elicit them.
In a paragraph I can’t do justice to how naturally he makes some of this material go. He’s influenced from several different schools, and he ties a lot of information together very well.

To summarize my must read books, in suggested order
“The Game” by Style
“Natural game” by Gambler
“The mystery method” by Mystery
And “How to meet and connect with women” By Juggler

I recommend the books in this particular order to help guide your understanding of the game. Both style and gambler give fantastic overviews. Mystery does a fantastic job of explaining the rules, but is not always the best in explaining what to do with that knowledge. And Juggler is awesome direct game that you need to supplement your understanding once you are moving away from material, but it helps to understand the game and all the rules first.
