I was just reading through John Alexander's "How To Become An Alpha Male". I hadn't done so in a while, but when I just read through it a little, I realised how great this book is for beginning PUA's.
First of all, it teaches you inner game. Which, in my opinion, is far the most important. It teaches you how to walk, talk, and behave like an Alpha male. It also convinces you it's not bad to get rejected by women and you must be persistent until they either do so or you have sex with them.
Second of all, it explains more about female psychology. Like how women are afraid to be judged by others, especially you, and how that affects their actions.
Third, it teaches you basic approaching. Loads of beginners have aa, and they read all kinds of stuff on how to approach sets, while they're still afraid of even talking to a lone girl. This book focuses on approaching a single woman at a time. It has some arguments on why you shouldn't approach sets and stuff, but you can leave that be once you've mastered the basics and are ready to open sets.
There's more to it, and I haven't finished reading it yet, but I just wanted to share this. It helps you learn the basics of pick-up, and for more info on specific areas you can always read specialised books later on. I think I was wrong putting it away earlier, but I had more literature to read on the subject. I'll finish the book from where I left off a while ago and than read it all over again.
