Default wanting to lose weight BADLY!

recently i've looked at some before/after pics and it is pretty demoralizing to me. when i was in shape i would say i was a good looking guy, but now i almost wanna say i look like a slob.

before i gained all this weight(i went from about 170 to 260-270) i didnt really eat healthy but i would play DDR ALL THE TIME and i also joined the military, but in military i got hurt and started to gain some weight. im now out and trying to lose all this weight i've gained since i been out for 3+ years. i am getting 40% disability and really have no idea how much that hinders me for working out. i had surgery on my right wrist to get a cyst out, i got it out but im pretty sure they messed up something because i have this nice scar and a recurring cyst along with noticable pain in the wrist. i have onsgood slaughters in my left knee, and problems with ankles.

NOW with all that said, i dont want that to be some kind of cop out, i just wanted to state that for maybe some guidance on what should be good for ME to do.

now i never liked running but i used to be able to at least do it if i had to. but now running just feels impossible for me it hurts in more than 1 way, and honeslty i've never had to go through this much "pain" while excercising. i think the main thing for me is how demoralizing it is to struggle so much trying to do any kind of excercise. i recently bought ddr to try to slowly get back into shape and i get tired so quick its almost pathetic, and i used to play on the hardest difficulty while doing 2 pads at once.

sorry for all that ranting but just had to get that off my chest. so BASICALLY im just wanting some advice on how to deal with pain and frustration of feeling like i cant do anything when i work out. also some advice on dieting too would help greatly. basically i just need a "how to lose weight for dummies" since this is basically all new to me.

There are posts around the forum i would check out. But...

I suggest checking out the book 4 hour body by Tim Ferriss. You could also just google 'slow carb diet'. It worked for me. I lost over 30lbs of fat and gained lean muscle in the process. Important thing is you feel good on this diet.

Make sure you get your bodyfat checked so you can find out your lean muscle mass and fat mass and track your progress.

Just remember it's at least 80% diet 20% working out.

Only thing I found w/ running is my appetite goes through the roof when i run. It's pointless to run a couple of miles when u can eat those calories back too quickly. I run all the time but I don't do it too lose weight.

I suggest taking supplements. Take Roxy Lean to ramp up your metabolism, and give you the energy and drive.

Take Omega 3, and maybe another joint suport supplement.

Well, depends what you eat when you come back home... If you eat a big chunk of pork liver with green beans, it's all benefit for you

As for you moeisme, well you're going to have a hard time, let's admit it. It will take you at least as long to lose wight than it took you to gain it, and probably twice as long. And it will be painful, and hard, and etc. But the earlier you start, the earlier you will reach your goal

As mentioned above, your diet is the most important. I recommend eating 5-6 smaller meals a day. This will trick your body into thinking it is taking in more calories. Also, protein is crucial. Yes, you need carbs, fat, and protein, but the human body burns more calories to break down protein than the other two.

Another easy change is taking advantage of power foods. These are foods that promote the burning of fat within the body. Some examples include: almonds, low fat yogourt, eggs, turkey, protein whey powder, and raspberries.

Appetite suppressants are useful as well. Almonds do the trick for this.

For exercise, maybe you should start with swimming. This is easier on your joints and burns a lot of calories.

I bought "The New Abs Diet" from Men's Health. This book taught me a shitload about fitness and dieting.

Lastly, remember that weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. Take pictures of yourself every week, instead of using a scale. Scales can be very misleading.
Keep in touch with your progress! Good luck!
